Tournament rules

2-Man Scramble rules.

Tuesday, September 29, 2026 begins with a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start. Awards and cocktails follow in the banquet hall at 6:00 p.m. Review the playing format, assigned tees, and Net Division handicap calculation before the tournament.

FormatTwo-player scramble

Both players hit, select the preferred ball, and continue from that spot.

DivisionsGross and Net

Gross uses the team’s actual score. Net applies the team handicap allowance.

Team handicap35% low + 15% high

The Net Division allowance is calculated from each player’s Course Handicap.

Tee box assignments

Play from the assigned tees.

Each player uses the tee assignment that applies to them for the entire tournament round.

Men under age 55White tees
Men age 55 and olderGold tees
WomenRed tees

Net Division

Team handicap allowance

Convert each player’s Handicap Index to a Course Handicap from that player’s assigned tee. The lower Course Handicap receives a 35% allowance and the higher Course Handicap receives a 15% allowance.

Team allowance(Low × 35%) + (High × 15%)

Add the two allowances and round the total to the nearest whole number. Apply those strokes using the scorecard’s handicap allocation.

Example: Course Handicaps of 8 and 18 produce 2.8 + 2.7 = 5.5, rounded to a team allowance of 6.

Basic playing procedure

How to play the scramble

01

Both players tee off

Each team member plays a tee shot on every hole. The team then selects the preferred shot.

02

Mark the selected ball

Mark the position of the chosen ball before either player lifts or plays it. Playing order is the team’s choice.

03

Play from the chosen spot

Both players play the next shot from within one club-length of the selected spot, no closer to the hole. The ball must remain in the same area of the course; a selected bunker or penalty-area ball must stay in that area.

04

Putting green procedure

On the putting green, mark the selected ball. Both players putt from within one putter-head length of that mark, no closer to the hole.

05

Continue until holed

Repeat the selection process after every shot until one team ball is holed. Once a ball is holed, the team’s score for that hole is complete.

06

Record one team score

Record the team’s gross score for each hole. All putts must be holed unless the tournament committee announces otherwise.

Scoring and rule priority

Return one complete team scorecard.

Both players should verify the card before it is returned. Lowest gross score wins the Gross Division, and lowest score after the team allowance wins the Net Division. The tournament committee will resolve ties and any rules questions. Event notices and pro shop instructions take priority if they differ from this basic sheet.
